Description: Acoustic Guitar - 1961 Manuel Rodriguez classical guitar, No.176
The guitar am selling is a 1961 Manuel Rodriguez no. 176. This guitar was made when Rodriguez was still living in Los Angeles, USA. It is handsigned by Rodriguez himself. Here are the specifications:
Sides & back: Brazilian rosewood
Width at nut: 52mm
I could not find any useful informations about this guitar online. But I did find one similar Rodriguez guitar (1965 no. 242 with a scale length of 633mm and 2 repaired cracks) on sale for $4,000 at FINEFRETTED.COM.
I have taken many pictures of this guitar. Please contact me with your email address for the pictures.
There are ablsolutely no structural problems with this guitar. The neck is straight and everything else is fine. I acquired this guitar about 10 years ago. And it seems that before I got it, this guitar had spent most of its life in its case. It is amazing that the top of this 47-year-old guitar looks like new (and still does). I have taken extreme care of this instrument. There are NO scratches, nicks, or dents on the top of this beautiful guitar. There are some very light scratches on the back and one very small finish check at the edge on the upper bout which does not penetrate the wood.
But it is the sound that has attractedme to this guitar. I once play it in the hall way at my college. Someone came around the corner and said to me that he thought he heard the piano! This guitar has a very rounded treble and a resonant bass. To me, it is a sweet sounding gutar. The playability is excellent as well. Also, it comes with its original case. The case is very heavy.
I would have kept this guitar if my family is not going to be relocated and IF I have not had the Miguel Rodriguez and the Kolya Panhuyzen. I really believe that this guitar is a bargain for the price I am asking here. I am able to sell for such a low price because I bought it from a lady who tried to get rid of it and did not know the instrument's true value. She said it was her deceased husband's guitar.
