Description: Acoustic Guitar - 8-String Guitar by Traphagen
8-String Classical Guitar by Traphagen (built in 2000)
Traphagen is one of the most respected American luthiers, and is very experienced in building 8-string guitars.
This instrument is made of well seasoned and aged woods: top quality Cedar soundboard, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, Spanish cedar neck, Ceylonese ebony fretboard. Rodgers gears custom made for 8-string guitar. French polish finish. 650mm string length which is standard.
There is no structural damage, the guitar is excellent playing condition. The finish is worn down on the upper bout of the back, and there is some light scratching on the soundboard beneath the soundhole, to be expected on an instrument that has been played a lot. There is a quarter inch hole in the bottom center for a strap peg and for internal mic/transducer access, which is what I use. If you use internal sound equipment you are ready to go; or the hole can be easily filled.
The sound is very clear and balanced with ample volume and excellent projection. The trebles are golden, the mid-range is "cello-like" and the basses are warm.
8-string guitars are great for all kinds of music; Renaissance & Baroque, piano transcriptions, Jazz, etc. The 7th and 8th strings are in the bass, low D and A, but you can tune any way you like.
This a first rate concert and recording instrument. Traphagen is known for the musicality of his guitars, this is no exception.
I am selling this instrument because I have decided to use Spruce top guitars exclusively, this is an excellent offer for Cedar players who play 8-string or are interested in getting started.
