Description: Acoustic Guitar - 2007 Ambridge Torres model
There are no pictures available for this acoustic guitar
For sale is the first Torres model that Simon Ambridge, one of the world's great makers, built. It is model of #111 that Torres built in 1887. It has hardly been played and, with the exception of a few nearly invisible marks adjacent to the fingerboard, it is in near new condition. Maple and spruce.
There is a general misconception about traditionally built guitars. Many consider them too quiet for performance use. That is clearly incorrect because this is a loud guitar ! It can certainly meet modern expectations in terms of volume and projection. It has a refined and exceptionally clear sound. It is perfect for polyphonic music like Bach but can do modern music wonderfully well too.
This guitar is the easiest one I have ever played ! It is a marvel in this regard. One can play all day without any fatigue. 650mm. It responds sensitively to color changes and vibrato. String squeaks are less apparent for some reason.
Go to Simon Ambridge's website and you can hear the Torres model being played by S. Kenyon. I am not sure whether I have heard a more beautiful sounding guitar.
The only other one of these for sale on the web is going for 10,500.
