Description: Acoustic Guitar - David Daily Concert Classical
For sale is an unusual example of Daily's work. This guitar was built in Granada while Daily was living there in 1994. His guitars were influenced by luthiers like Marin before, and this one was partially constructed in Marin's shop. It has a particularly lovely, spanishy sound with a singing first string, bold trebles, and firm basses. A sweet, warm but clear tone.
The previous owner used this guitar for flamenco purposes. As such, there a nail divots in the top. He then glued an approximation of a golpeador to the area which when removed had discolored the wood a slight but noticeable amount. When he decided to sell the guitar, he sent it to Daily to reset it up as a classical and to repair what he could. The top French polish was refreshed, so the finish is perfect, but it does look to have suffered. Not like Dusan Bogdanovich's Voigt has suffered, but it's not pristine. I tried to show the condition as well as possible.
The details are: Daily's typical three piece Brazilian rosewood back with beautiful sapwood in the center, Euro spruce top, French polish throughout, Sloan tuners, 52 mm nut, 650 mm scale. Action is just under 4 mm. Photos on photobucket, link on request.
