Description: Bassoon - Schreiber Stencil Wood Bassoon
There are no pictures available for this bassoon
This is a wonderful Schreiber stencil bassoon. It is maple wood and has some beautiful, natural tiger striping. It is marked Jenkins Harwood, which is the company that imported the bassoon in the 60s. This bassoon is in excellent playing condition, and it was just completely overhauled, so you can rest assured this bassoon is ready to play and requires no service or repairs. The bassoon has a very nice sound and stable intonation, which would make it a great upgrade from a plastic bassoon or a nice beginner bassoon.
The overhaul was done by Judi Dietz, a bassoon specialist in the Kansas City area, and it included a full re-pad with all new white kid leather pads, adjustment and lubrication of the mechanism, cleaning and oiling of the wood bore, cleaning and polishing of the nickel plating, all new corks and felts, re-sealing of the u-tube, and repairs to some cracks in the body. The bassoon is now in top shape and plays perfectly.
This bassoon was made in the 60s, so it shows some signs of wear. The finish is nice and shiny, but there are typical scratches and dings here and there. The plating shows wear in some spots as well, but overall is shiny. Please look at the pictures carefully.
Included with the bassoon are two bocals (length 1 and 2), a hand crutch, cork grease, and a hard case in good condition. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I would be happy to ship the instrument or arrange a trial period as well. I am asking $1600 obo.
