Description: Cello - Gaertner cello 1899.
IMMACULATE CONDITION, STUTTGART, GERMANY, 1899
Beautifully constructed cello by maker appointed as luthier to the King of Wurtemberg. This maker enjoys great fame for his celli in his native Germany. The workmanship is off the top shelf. Immaculate purfling, transparent golden brown oil varnish and harmony of execution. The woods are selected for maximum beauty, including straight resonant spruce and beautifully symmetrical bookended maple with narrow, impressive flaming descending to the flanks. The tone is warm and pleasing, even in all registers. Mellow with no harshness whatsoever.
