Description: Clarinet - ULTRA RARE Selmer Paris ‘Centered Tone’ Model Bb Clarinet

ULTRA RARE Selmer Paris ‘Centered Tone’ Model Bb Clarinet 1958 With ALL OF THE OPTIONS OFFERED
It is in the key of Bb and has every option Selmer offered on their ‘High End’ clarinets. Good luck ever finding a clarinet like this again!
The instrument has a serial number of #R35xx, which would make it circa 1958. This clarinet has all the optional keys that were available:
6 Rings with a vent key between left hand 2nd and 3rd finger rings
Low Eb/Bb key
Left hand Ab/Eb lever
Articulated G
Right hand alternate G trill mechanism?
The keys are nickel plated. This clarinet has been professionally repadded including new corks, felts, and the keys, posts, and rings have been polished. This service was done by some of the best woodwind hands in the Midwest!
This clarinet is in excellent playing condition; however like most clarinets of its age has some minor blemishes to point out. The lower joint has a small crack starting at the ring that runs through the G tone hole and stops before the ring key tone hole. The tone holes both seal completely and the crack is confined within the area of the fully lined socket. (see picture) There should not be any danger of the crack getting bigger. This small flaw may likely have been caused at the factory during the installation of the socket. There is also a crack in the bell at the socket. It does not affect the playability of the instrument at all.
It also comes with the original case which is in great shape! (minus the missing handle) This clarinet won’t fit in very many new cases due to the extra long length of the lower joint. It will fit in a Buffet double case where the bell stays on the lower joint if you put the lower joint without the bell in the A side, and put the bell on the Bb side.
This clarinet is a one owner instrument actually purchased at the Selmer factory in Paris. It had been in storage for over 20 years, so will need to be broken in!! It is vital that the instrument is properly broken in (like a new instrument) before it is played on a regular basis to prevent any problems!
What you have here is a very rare beast that thirsts for a happy home. As you can see it is a beauty. only. Will split fees. PHOTOS ON REQUEST.
