Double Bass (Contrabass) for sale - 3/4 Size Double Bass. Austro-Hungarian Origin

In the opinion of the Susan Riley, proprietor of the Bass Shop, and of Dave Ellis, luthier at the Bass Shop, this instrument is estimated to have been made in the mid-20th century and is of Austro-Hungarian origin. It is hand carved, has a flat back, high arching in the belly and an ebony fingerboard. The belly is made of spruce and the back and sides of maple.

At some point it has been re-varnished in a deep reddish colour and the scroll has been replaced (this is of sound workmanship, and fitting to what is a very attractive and well-made instrument).
The bass has a very large and focussed sound. There are no cracks or repairs anywhere, allowing for clear and uninhibited projection.

It is considered by Susan and Dave to have a replacement value of USD$12,200.00

Body Length: 43 inches (109.2 cm)
Upper Bout: 19 inches ( 48.2 cm)
Centre Bout: 13 inches (approx) (33 cm)
Lower Bout: 26 inches (approx) (66 cm)
String Length: 41 inches (104.1cm)
