Description for Double Bass (Contrabass) - Baroque Double Bass:
This is a relatively new Baroque Bass built by Shem Mackey in 1991 but overhauled in 2008 (revarnished, new bridge, gut frets etc so it is in new condition. It is 3/4 size based on Gary Karr's 'koussevitsky' Amati bass with four strings, a flat back and a string length of 1100cm (43.5inches). The instrument has maple back and sides, spruce front, maple fingerboard and tailpiece, boxwood pegs and removable spike.
Its a very resonant and responsive instrument. It comes with a soft padded cover.
