There are no pictures available for this double bass (contrabass)
1936 "Carlo Micelli" all solid wood carved back double bass. 3/4 size, with a long 43 1/2" scale. German make and style, with an Italian name.
This bass was converted to be LEFT HANDED in 1997 and can be converted back to right-handed play for less than $3000 with no detriment to the bass.
Excellent condition, neck never broken, and only minimal repairs have been needed. This is a very stable bass, good for traveling.
The bass has a big, balanced sound, both arco and pizzicato. I have used both gut and steel strings with success for live performances and recordings in many different musical styles and genres.
Appraised for $17,000 in 1997 ( Have appraisal letter). Verbally appraised for over $20k in 2004.
Included is a top quality Reunion Blues bass bag, black cordura and leather, with xtra duty padding and is suitable for any travel and conditions short of what would require a trunk.
