Diamond Bass labeled #42. This instrument is in excellent
condition and was purchased from the Toenniges family thru
LA Bassworks in 1999. The bass has violin corners with a
round back. The instrument has a spruce top with maple
neck,
scroll & back. The F holes are elongated, vertical
diamonds slanted slightly towards the center. The center
ribs each have had a vertical diamond hole cut into them by
the maker. The varnish is a light orange/brown over a gold
ground coat. Label reads: No. 42 Paul Toenniges Violinmaker
USA 1948.
The instrument remains in excellent condition.
