Description: Electric Guitar - 1957 Fender Stratocaster -Original Vintage

The maple neck, with its lovely “skunk” stripe down its back, has a soft “V” that is favored by so many great guitarist from Clapton to Malmsteen. Again, no two guitars were alike as each neck was hand shaped. This one is SOOOO sweet. Your hand slides up and down and around this baby, the notes fly off and you feel like a guitar god. (Look out Eric!). The Kluson tuners show their age, but operate smoothly. The weird Fender patented vibrato works perfectly but (as is the case with all Fenders of this period) its makes your guitar go out of tune if used heavily. Not being a whammy bar guy myself, I keep a small removable maple block inside the mechanism to prevent its moving and to maintain perfect tuning.
Everything is original on this guitar except for the following: In the late 1980’s I had a 5 way selector put in by Mandolin Brothers. For you purists, the original three-way switch is in the case. In addition, at that time I had the frets replaced. The new frets have tons of play left on ‘em. The guitar’s intonation and action was also set-up by Mandolin and to put it simply, this guitar plays amazingly.
Details: The neck is dated 8-57 and the body is dated 10-57. The neck plate has serial number -23574. In 1957/1958 some serial numbers started with a minus sign ("-") and the number was at the bottom of the plate (rather than the top). The electronics have all their original solders in place (except the replaced 5 way selector) and the Stackpole brand pots push out the sound...this guitar sings.
The original case has an interior tag identifying it as "Koylon" brand case. A really cool feature is that this case still has its exterior "Fender" logo thick foil sticker on it.
Condition: The finish is original and in good condition on its front and fair condition on its back. There are numerous scratches and dings but the overall appearance is stunning since the two tone “tobacco road” sunburst is such a rich yellowy-brown (Again, this varies from guitar to guitar). This guitar has been played with respect and care. The case is scratched a bit, but is very nice. And it has still the cool Fender foil sticker.
