Modified 2004 Mexican Standard 'Blackie' Strat (black body, maple neck (with rosewood scunk stripe), maple fretboard and white pickguard)...

This guitar is FAR from your average, standard MIM strat: it has a Seymour Duncan SHR-1n (19.9 ohms) PU in neck position & Seymour Duncan SLBJ-1b (16.09k) in bridge position with a Fender Custom Shop '54 (5.9k) middle position - that's over 200 worth of PUs at original cost. The Seymour Duncan's are the equivalent of having humbuckers in a single-coil size and shape; the Custom Shop middle pickup gives it that classic vintage strat tone. (Basically, this guitar is the equivalent of having a HSH strat.)

It's just had a complete professional refret and modified so you can select the bridge AND neck pickups together by virtue of a push-pull pot on the second tone control (so when the neck PU is selected, by pulling up the second tone pot, you ALSO select the neck PU as well - as you'll know this is a common Strat mod). Overall, this guitar has got a lovely thick tone - but still retains that typical Fender brightness as well (there's a huge range of tones available now with the PUs and mod)!

It has a 'C' shaped neck with a 9.5" radius - which has just had a complete professional refret! It has also had the bridge stripped and cleaned and has been professionally setup. All the above work was completed professionally by Steve Robinson of Manchester Guitar Tech.

The white pickguard has some yellowing around the pots, PU selector etc, giving it a vintage look; there's slight dings and scratches (see pics) on the back RH side at the top and also on the bottom RH side - apart from that it's a clean guitar with just minor surface scratches here and there as you'd expect from a used 5 year-old guitar.

Although I LOVE the tone and sounds I can get from it, after playing it the past couple of days after having the work done I've decided to sell it as I'm just not keen on the bigger neck and can't get used to it; thought I'd get used to it / get to like it but I just can't. I prefer and am used to the thinner (7.25 radius) neck on the 50's and 60s strats (like my other MIM strat). Afriad I just don't like this thicker, wider neck, compared to what I'm normally used to, so I'm getting another 50's one instead.

Comes complete with a lightly used Gator case.

I can also deliver within a reasonable distance at extra cost or you are welcome to pick this up from me at home or at the studio. If you're paying by cheque, please understand that I can't send the guitar until the cheque has cleared. Thanks! The P&P costs below includes the extra for insurance / enhanced compensation that they charge.

Due to this being a free ad, I can't put up pics of it, but if you contact me through this ad, I'll email you some.

Thanks a lot!
