The guitar is a 2002/2003 USA Fender Stratocaster finished in Chrome Red with a maple neck/fretboard.

Located in the white pickguard are three active pickups (Seymour Duncan) which link to a preamp within the guitar powered by a 9V battery. The battery compartment is routed to the rear of the body for easy access should the battery need to be changed. The active pickups allow for longer sustain than their passive counterparts, and are excellent for producing chunky rock rhythms and bright defined lead. They also work well with a range of amplifiers and effects pedals.

The maple neck shows minor signs of wear at the back along the skunk stripe, but the fretboard is smooth and very playable. The machine heads in the headstock are Schaller locking tuners.

The paintwork is in good condition (be advised not mint) with a few minor dings. In my opinion this would make an ideal workhorse strat ideal for those looking for a serious instrument at a good price (new USA Fenders are around £850-£900), for jamming or gigging or maybe for a modification project. For those of you who must have an unblemished instrument I have been advised that the bodywork would not be expensive to restore should the buyer require a mint finish.
