notes on Split E and Offset G and why you should get a flute with these features:

It is sometimes difficult to play a clean sounding high E note on a flute without a split E mechanism. Especially for beginners. The split E helps the player to get a clearer, more controlled high E note.

Offset G is a more natural hand position and helps to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. Flutes that have regular or "inline" G keys are more awkward to play.
