This turntable is in perfect condition mechanically and electrically. Cosmetically the system is stunning to look at, and is in 100% Mint condition. All lettering is perfectly intact, and there are absolutely no marks, scratches, or abrasions to be found on it. To find a better looking 30/2 you would have to take one out of the box for the first time!
SME has long been acknowledged for building the finest turntables and tonearms in the world, and SME 30/2 represents the pinnacle of their turntable designs. To achieve this, the 30/2 system uses a spindle bearing made of high-carbon, chrome-tooled steel machined to better than mil-spec tolerances which is enclosed in a sealed oil bath. The bearing runs on individually fitted sintered bronze bearings enclosed in a massive sealed housing rigidly fitted to the suspended sub-chassis.
The advanced suspension of the SME 30/2 utilizes 4 sophisticated suspension towers, each using 12 molded O-rings and fluid dampers. External vibrations are effectively isolated from the system.
The drive system is composed of a three-phase, eight-pole motor that is electronically commutated, free of any "cogging effect" and isolated on adjustable urethane mounts. The motor drives an 8.25", 5-lb sub-platter via a ground-rubber belt. The 17 pound 13" platter rests on this sub-platter. The outboard power supply allows for pitch adjustments for 33 1/3, 45, and 78rpm. The SME 30/2 can work 220 and 115 volt.
This system is completed with a like-new pair of Harmonic Technology Crystal Silver phono cables. These superior cables can transmit low-level signals without loss of detail while maintaining a very high signal to noise ratio. The end result is the highest level of transparency and harmonic richness possible from your analog system.
