Description: Recorder (woodwind instrument) - KUNG Superio Great Bass Recorder in C - Excellent
This is a Kung Superio great bass recorder in C in maple. The Superio great bass is easily the best great bass you can buy today. If you have been around many recorder groups lately, then you might already know that this is the consensus among players, pro and amateur alike. The entire 2 octave+ range is easy, all the notes are full, and the lowest range is solid and loud (a very rare thing in the larger sizes of recorder). The response of this instrument is wonderful, and it doesn't feel clumsy despite its size. The range from low C on up is completely chromatic, and there are separate keys for low C, C#, and D# with rollers (no half-holing needed). Since the low C comes out from holes in the side of the foot-joint, it can be played resting on the floor. This instrument can play with dynamics, and blends very well in both modern and renaissance recorder ensembles. I suggest looking up information on this instrument if you are interested. Enough good things cannot be said about it, and I regret having to sell it.
This particular recorder is in superb condition. There are no worn-through or bent keys, no cracks, nicks or stains in the wood, the pads and corks are perfect, and it plays great. There were two finishes that the keys on these great basses came with- matte/brushed and polished (I have seen about 5 of these)- and this instrument has matte finish on the keywork. I bought the instrument new a little over 2 years ago from a reputable dealer in Northern CA, and have since put maybe 30 hours of play time on it. I mostly play bass recorder in groups, so this was only a secondary.
The recorder comes with its original case (great condition), cork grease, a neck strap, a wooden cleaning rod, a fingering chart&info manual, and a key to lock the case. For reference, the Superio great bass usually sells for around $3,300 new. Since it is pretty much exactly the same as it was when I received it other than the greased joints, this really is a great chance to get a great deal on an amazing instrument.
