Description: Tuba - Boosey & Hawkes EEb Tuba
Very rare bright silver/gold plated EEb tuba/bass made by Boosey & Hawkes. Model is Imperial which is the top line professional model. This one was made in 1968 and used in the British Brass Band before being sold on for overhaul. It has four valves, compensating and has a 15 inch bell. It is in near as new condition, this instrument was totally overhauled and replated only two months ago. It is plated with silver and all slides, valve caps, bottoms, tops, and water keys have been 24k gold plated (not lacquered on brass). There are a few marks/tiny dings on the instrument under the new plating because the repair shop did not remove any metal from the tuba to keep the tone etc. It also has some customs features such as a large mouthpiece receiver, floating leadpipe (very useful!) and a third valve water key (a matching Imperial one not modern day copy). As you can see in the pictures it looks beautiful. The valves are very fast/light, there is slight pitting but no wear (see pics). This pitting is not affecting the valves as they have been air tested and the shop wouldn't have spent over £800 on an overhaul if the pistons were no good. All the slides are very clean and free. Complete with a padded gig bag but no mouthpiece as i've been using my own DW4L which works very well. These cost well over £3500 new without the gold plating.
