Description: Tuba - Meinl Weston 2265/2
There are no pictures available for this tuba
I am selling my handmade silver plated Meinl Weston 2265/2 for sale. It comes with a MW flight case.
This is a great 6/4 tuba with a rich, buoyant sound. It is surprisingly light in physical weight and is extremely nimble.
Intonation is very good. C#, D, F in the staff require a 1st slide pull. No flat 5th partial here. E & Eb are open and 2nd and are spot on.
The upper register really sings and speaks easily and the low register speaks quickly with little effort. It is a little more like the 6450 in that regard, but with a thicker sound. The more you give it, the bigger the sound gets.
The tuba is in very nice condition with some minor silver wear (one spot on the bell near the top bow where the hand will rest at times, and two small spots on the outer bow). Nothing major. Hardly noticeable. There is also a small indention at one brace, few small dings, and some scratches from buttons, cufflinks, etc, but it looks beautiful and plays even better. When I bought it, the leadpipe was raised and braced off the bell. I had it replaced to the original factory position right after I bought it. The work was done well, and it really improved the focus of the instrument.
A new one is over $25,000 and you have to wait for it to be made. I'm asking $15,900 including the MW flight case. For obvious reasons, I am not jazzed about shipping, but I am willing to drive a reasonable distance from Winston-Salem, NC to meet an interested buyer. I can also offer a suitable concert hall for a trial (and a beverage(s) of your choice) if you would like to test the tuba here in Winston-Salem. PayPal is also an option if needed.
