New Zealand Viola - Large, Bouette (1972, 16.5 inches, 419mm)New Instrument
This instrument is equal to No. 26. The back is made from very old one piece maple with a narrow to medium flame. The belly is two piece Swiss pine with a very fine narrow grain.
A rich golden brown oil varnish with an incredible depth of transparency creating a deep rippling pyramid three dimensional effect.
Professional instrument. A superb viola. A very powerful instrument with a deep tone and excellent projection. Easy to play with exceptional instant, clear response.
This viola was displayed at ‘The XXIXth International Viola Congress’ which was held in Wellington, New Zealand, between 8th and 12th April 2001.
