4/4 violin by master luthier Roland Sandner, Mittenwald 1989
The attractive one-piece back (LOB 354 mm) of stunning Bosnian maple (has to be seen to be fully appreciated), matching ribs and scroll; narrow spruce top.
The propolis varnish of golden orange-own colour.
Very fine workmanship and materials!
Bought from the maker in 1989.
Absolutely immaculate condition.
Roland Sandner comes from an established dynasty of makers which has been active in Mittenwald and Bubenreuth for several generations. He trained, among others, in the firm of J&A Beare in London and taught for many years in the State Academy of Violin Making in Mittenwald whilst continuing the successful family workshop. He is now retired and has passed on the workshop to his son Florian Sandner and wife Maria.
I bought this violin 1989 from the maker for DM 10000, and it has been in my possession ever since. It has been looked after very well and is, accordingly, in mint condition.
Viewing in person can be arranged in London and Liverpool.
Payment: Preferably wire transfer or cash on collection
