A very fine and exceedingly rare classical Italian violin by Alessandro Gagliano. Still bearing the maker's original manuscript label, dated 1713. (Our researches have determined that this is the only violin of this particular year currently known to exist.)
Condition report: One small drying out crack to the lower belly, right side of the tail saddle. One small crack to the edge of the left upper back, adjacent to the button.
The two piece top of fine straight grain. The one piece back of beautifully figured native Italian maple, matching ribs. The original head and neck of medium figured maple. The highly transparent varnish of a rich orange color. LOB: 353mm.
