A fine classical Italian violin by Guarneri del Gesu, dated 1741. The two piece top of medium growth spruce, each half from different trees. According to dendro-chronological analysis, one side dates to 1682. The two piece back of medium figure slanting downward from the center, the ribs matching. The original head grafted onto a newer neck.
Chestnut brown varnish over a cinnamon colored ground.
Warm full tone with great carrying power. LOB: 359mm.
