Musical Instrument Description: Violin for sale - Mittenwald/Klotz Model Violin - Bargain Price
There are no pictures available for this violin
This is a German Violin that I rescued recently from the jaws of fate. In the summer of 2008 it received a complete top-off restoration from Edward Maday, including cleaning up the cleats in the back, cleaning up the ribs and blocks, gluing some cracks, etc. The sound is sweet, and while it is not particularly loud, it is very bright. It would be a great chamber music violin, or perhaps even a violin for a student going off to conservatory. At the moment, the violin is in the inventory of Laurinel Owen at house of strings. I've listed her website information below, so feel free to contact her to see the instrument.I listed this violin at a bargain price for really only one reason. This violin, while it does have a label, the only legible words of importance are "Mittenwald" and the date "1710." All of my research indicates that the violin is a mid-18th century German Mittenwald/Klotz Model violin, and there's nothing about the violin that would suggest otherwise. Laurinel Owen can produce pictures upon request.
If I could get this violin authenticated as a genuine Klotz family violin, it would go for as much as 25000. Because I haven't, my loss is your gain, effectively. Take advantage.
