Violin for sale - Scott Cao Full Size STV 850M special copy of 1941 Ansaldo Poggi

Scott Cao model 850M made in 2007 copied after a modern Italian violin made in 1941 by Ansaldo Poggi. Hand carved from European tone-woods by an individual maker in the Scott Cao workshop. Label and included certificate are signed by the maker

Spruce top of medium to close grain. Two piece maple back of medium to narrow flame. Ribs and scroll similar to back. Finished in an oil varnish of a warm orange color on a golden ground and very slightly antiqued in the appearance of the original violin. Scroll is beautifully cut with black edging (also on rib edges at the C-bout). The violin and varnish are much more beautifull than the photos can show. Two luthiers who have adjusted the violin have remarked that it looks and performs like a $3000 instrument.
