This violin is OLD, to say the least. It was previously repaired... has new bridge, new strings, new post, new pegs. And it plays beautifully. ~ 103 dB.

Although this great aged violin is very much so playable, it could definitely use a full restoration.

The top / face plate has seen 2 cracks (7" and 3") which have been repaired and the right f has also broken out but has been repaired.

On the back of the violin top boud, right below the button is the name "Schweitzer" carved in. The label is very old and has partially been lost. There is still some of it that is legible:

"Joh Bapt ... Hieronymi ... Am..." Gathering from that, there is enough evidence that this Violin has been made between 1810 to 1820 by Joh Baptist Schweitzer and he copied an interesting design based on Nicolo Amati.

-The measurements: Back body length is 13 15/16 inches not including the button.
-Top bout width is 6 1/2 inches at the widest point
-Center bout is 4 inches at the narrowest point.
-Bottom bout width is 7 13/16 inches at its widest point.
-Total length of violin incl peg box is 23 inches
