Description: Bassoon - Moosmann Bassoon
Moosmann Bassoon, European “Soloist” model 200, serial #4424
Bassoon was purchased directly from Mr Bernd Moosmann, the bassoon maker himself. Will transfer ownership and will provide my papers that came with the purchase.
This is a gentleman’s model with a longer bell joint than usual. Case is only 22" long, perfect for air-travel requirements. This bassoon is similar to the American model 150, except that the wing joint tone-holes are lined with ebonite instead of metal for a warmer tone. It is made from seasoned curly mountain maple wood from Bosnia, with a mahogany stain, and has a hand-applied French polish finish.
Purchased just over 8 years ago, hardly played, like new. Tone holes and left thumb keys on the wing joint have been expertly adjusted by Christopher Millard (middle range E-flat and C-sharp pitches are particularly corrected). Recently inspected by Jesse Read who feels it’s in excellent condition and that the intonation, response and sound is very impressive for a bassoon in this class.
Includes: Locking-key for Wing/Long Joints; Whisper-key lock, High-E and D keys; F#, C# and E-flat trill-keys; Unusual low E-F# trill-key mechanism; Double B-flat key; Double low C key, Right thumb B-flat and F# rollers; Right little-finger F/G# and F/F# rollers. The usual right thumb-rest on the boot joint is replaced with a permanent thumb-rest plate (can be easily removed).
Includes two Moosmann bocals, both silver Excellent series (size 1 and 2). As well, I purchased and include a third Moosmann bocal – a gold-plated Interpret series (size 2) – terrific for high notes and gives an incomparable resonant tone.
Today’s market price (less 19% German VAT) is 13,220 Euros or roughly $18,000 US.
Asking $15,250 US (no added taxes)
Dimensions of case: 22 ¼ by 11 ¼ by 4 inches OR 56.5cm x 29cm x 10cm. Total weight: 12 pounds
