Description for Violin - Graeme Thatcher (No.41) New Zealand Violin - Guarneri (Cannon 1743):
The back is made from very old two piece European maple with a broad wide flame. The belly is two piece extremely fine grained Swiss pine. Neck and ribs are matched.
Deep rich red / brown oil varnish with reflective golden tones between the broader flame figuration.
The chinrest is hand made from maple and lacquered black.
A very powerful instrument with superb projection. A quick instant clear response with a deep resonant tone and a bright powerful ‘E’ string. Plays upper positions easily.
